Two Assaulted During Robbery at Marijuana Grow in Forbestown

Yuba County

Just before 4:00 a.m. on 9/16/2019, Yuba County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call reporting an assault and theft of Marijuana had just occurred at a home in the 18000 block of New York Flat Road in Forbestown near the Yuba-Butte County border. Upon Deputies arrival, it was determined that a home invasion Robbery had occurred at a residence where an illegal Cannabis grow was located. Two victims, both Spanish-only speaking males, were interviewed at the Sheriff’s office and advised the officers that  they were residing at the property and were hired as security for the grow site.

The victims reported that they were asleep in the residence when 5-6 armed masked suspects wearing dark clothing forced entry into the home. One of the victims fled out a window and ran through the forest until eventually reaching a home on the Butte County side of Forbestown where the 911 call was placed. While the first victim was fleeing for help, the second victim was assaulted, duct taped and tied up while the suspects cut down the garden and removed the plants.

It is believed the group of suspects arrived and fled with the marijuana in a shipping type cargo vehicle or van. According to the victims, the suspects were also Spanish speaking. The Marijuana grow was well hidden and not visible outside of the property, leading investigators to believe the suspects had inside knowledge of the grow. The incident remains under active investigation by Detectives.
