Safety is a priority as Firefighters continued to secure and construct containment lines throughout theday. Firing operations in the interior of the fire continued as favorable conditions allowed. In less activeareas of the fire, mop up, suppression repair and patrol continued. Steep terrain, dry vegetation, andvariable winds due to the proximity of the lake have challenged firefighting efforts. The Ranch Fire continues to threaten the Mendocino National Forest as well as communities that reside north of the fire perimeter.Throughout the night, the Ranch Fire progressed north, steep and rugged terrain, dry fuel, and hot weather continue to challengesuppression efforts. Overnight fire crews constructed control lines and implemented new dozer lines, tying together preexistingcontainment barriers. Firefighters continue making progress increasing and strengthening containment lines. In less active areas of the fire crews mop up and patrol. Fire suppression repair has begun. Exercise extreme caution when traveling in the fire area. Please drive slowly and yield to emergency personnel working near roads. The Ranch Fire continued to be active today. Fire crews engaged in successful operations on the far west side of the fire tying in containment lines south of the Eel River. Fire crews will continue to protect the southern areas of Lake Pillsbury along with prepping and proteting the Rice Fork Summer Homes. In the coming days fire crews will work to burn out fuel in order to keep the fire south of the Stonyford area.The south side of the fire has had no significant events and remains in a suppression repair status with patrol.The River Fire had no movement....Read more...
